Okay, so it’s official… Our 100″ eVo projector (that I mentioned in my Wiitarded post earlier) has bit the dust. It had been having problems that were building up for a while, so we decided to take it apart and fix it.
Problems:
1) Glowing around the edges
2) A discoloration in the middle
3) Dirt on the LCD
4) Distorted image on the left
5) LOUD FANS
What we did:
1) We sharpied around the frenzel lenses to remove the reflective glow…
2) We peeled off the discolored anti-glare layer on the LCD. This would have made the picture brighter too… :)
3) We cleaned the LCD and lenses to get the specks off…
4) We started realigning the frenzel lense to fix the distortion… when we noticed…….
Somewhere along the line we had ripped an extremely delicate (paper thin) ribbon cable that could not be repaired… It was part of the LCD which meant our projector would no longer work. We attempted to melt it back together but had such a frustrating time that I found myself stabbing the controller board with a screwdriver…
So now we have no car or TV. In another few months we’ll prolly be living in a cave. What a fun Friday the 13th! On the up side we bought a refurbished “Epson PowerLite Home 20” to replace it for only $400 :)…
Ah, the circle of life :)

Dammit I missed the carnage!
Wouldn’t be so bad if this morning we didn’t all of a sudden have a message waiting on our Wii… :/
How’s the Epson working out? Hope it’s okay….
Still waiting for them to process the order :/
