One of the biggest issues with decorating when having roommates is catering to each persons sense of style. This can make for a very interesting livingroom. PolyVector and I are pretty similar, but our roommate Willow is a little more on the artistic side. While her sense of style is perfectly fine, it is kind of strange meshing with a more industrial, minimal type style. Anywho, Willow came back from Phoenix today with a “new” couch, so we did a little rearranging. Here is our spiffy setup.

The off-white couch is PolyVector’s and mine. The green couch and arm chair is Willow’s. And incase you couldn’t tell, the paintings are also Willow’s.
If you have been visiting the blog during the last 30 or so minutes you might have noticed the sidebar over to your right going a little screwy. I have been playing with PolyVector’s and my new found Last.fm abilities. I am sure you get the idea from the widget in the sidebar. Thanks to MasterStillie for the initial inspiration, we finally got our Last.fm profile, so now you get to see what completely dorky music we listen to.
I forgot to mention we are currently in the process of organizing our mp3 collection. So we only have a fraction of what we normally listen to added to our iTunes library. Making sure all our ID3 tags are done properly is a huge task. So hopefully as we get everything added the Recently Played list will stop looking so redundant.
Wow, a few days seemed to have eluded me. Dunno what happened there. My sleep schedule went completely backwards and I could have sworn I wrote something for the 25th. Guess not. Anywho, not much has actually been going on here. We beat Gears of War sometime last week, so we have been pretty much watching movies and TV, nothing too productive. On a side note, my niece Hannah turned 3 on the 23rd and her birthday party is today. She isn’t much of a party person, she usually gets really upset when the time to sing comes around. Hopefully this year will be different. I am a little bummed out that I am not there to celebrate, but I am sure pictures will get to me. Well, I am feeling a bit incoherent right now so I am gonna end this before it starts getting really screwy. Haven’t been myself the past few days, I do have a few notes on upcoming articles though.
Before this month closes in on us I thought it was about time I get a desktop shot up. I know you guys love seeing my beautifully coordinated screenshots. ;)

For awhile now we have had to endure this annoying little problem of being disconnected from the internet at random times. We tried keeping track of down times to see if there was a pattern, but we came up empty handed. One day while testing our our Skype phone PolyVector touched our cable modem and heard the phone cut out. The modem gave a little pop and the phone connection was restored. So we connected this little incident with our internet troubles. About 2 weeks ago we went ahead and bought a new cable modem. We didn’t get to hook it up and get it provisioned until last night. The test is now on to see if we still end up getting the disconnections, and so far so good. You have no idea what an annoyance it is working on one of our projects (which is usually requiring FTP connections etc.) and in the middle of doing something…BAM…internet goes down. Anywho, we are hoping we got it fixed. If not, looks like we get to spend some time talking to our good friends at NPG Cable.
Update: Well it isn’t lookin’ like the new modem fixed anything. A few hours later and we still ended up with some disconnection issues. We did have to deal with 2 tech reps to get the modem provisioned, the first guy didn’t know what he was doing and had to leave a note for a morning tech guy. A second call got us a tech who knew what to do and provisioned the modem right away. Perhaps we are/were dealing with the first tech’s note being processed. We”ll find out soon enough I suppose.
Another look and it seems we are having massive sporadic packet loss between our mode and the internet….guess that means our network is good…the fight continues.
This morning was pretty productive despite our on going struggle with the lack caffeine in our system. Today was a doggie day. We went off to Target to grab some needed items for both pups and people. When we got back I decided today was Beast Day. And what is “Beast Day?” Well, MegaNice9, PolyVector, and I call canned wet dog food “beast.” We like to give a can to our pups once in awhile as a good treat and to supplement nutrition where the dry dog food lacks. I mean who wants to eat the same dry pretzel like nuggets every day of their lives? Not me, that’s for sure. After many a trial with various brands of beast I have settled with “Nature’s Recipe.”Alright, enough of the background, giving a dog a can of beast is an amazing thing to watch. They have a few stages of transformation. The first stage is while you are pulling out the can opener with the beast in hand. They all wait so patiently like little darlings staring up at you. How can you resist to hurry. Then comes stage two, they become ravenous, going after each others bowls of the delicious stuff. You would never know these were good dogs. And after all this savage sliding of dog bowls across the floor stage three finally comes, relaxation and contentment. All three of the pups are blissfully lazing around the house with smiles on their faces. Makes me happy to be a dog owner.
I dunno about you, but I find it hilarious to have a dog named Princess that loves to roll in and eat her own shit. Although this can be very irritating at times, giving the dog a bath and seeing how tiny her head vs. her body really is can be quite funny. Let’s do a comparison, here is Princess all fluffy and in her natural glory. But here is a bathing…beauty?

She was squiggling around like mad in the bathtub, so the pictures won’t be too great, but I think you get the idea.
PolyVector and I are always on the search for the perfect hot sauce. The last hot sauce we would use almost religiously was El Pato. It was great with fish, burritos, chicken, the basics of our particular diet. But one day we grab a bottle, poor it on our beloved burritos fresh from the microwave, and discover it has been changed somehow. The marvelous neon sauce we have come to love after trying so many has betrayed us. We have been on a continuous search ever since for that perfect hot sauce, one that delivers spice as well as taste. And you wouldn’t believe how many get one but not the other. Yesterday while in search of a movie to watch (ended up getting “The Ice Harvest” by the way), we ended up down the grocery isle in Target and what do our eyes happen to spot, but a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot Cayenne Pepper Sauce. Now we know we have seen this before, in fact we remember almost immediately. Right! It was used on hot wings. For some reason it had never occurred to us to actually pick up a bottle and try it. Well, just so you all know, we have decided that Frank’s Red Hot Sauce is our new El Pato alternative. In fact, I think I even like it better. For those who would like to try these sauces, just pick up one (or both) of the following bottles. If you know any good hot sauces, please do tell!

Well, I had a few articles planned out for today but I have sort of been in a blur. Being a caffeine addict certainly has its drawbacks. While I can force myself to sit through the most boring of movies with a soda in hand, the effects of the sugar (or high fructose corn syrup….thanks US) combined with the caffeine, leaves me with a headache along with other symptoms of withdrawal when the addiction is not properly fed. So once again PolyVector and myself are trying to free ourselves from this vice. It renders us rather unproductive for a few days though. Along with this arduous task we are also trying to bring our hours back to a “normal” sleeping schedule. This is a mixture of doom, but not impossible. I decided to go ahead and write up this probably very incoherent post before I head to bed after depriving myself of both adequate caffeine and sleep. In short, coffee and tea make for a much better caffeine addiction. And even though I am writing this while we are in the transition period of non-soda drinking, it is a cycle we go through commonly. Be ready for another post of this type months from now. Off to bed I go, tomorrow should be a better day for posting.
I just went through my first WordPress upgrade and it was pretty painless, granted I do not have many modifications. So if something on the blog seems broken or out of place please let me know. I did a fast look through of URIs, articles and images to make sure and everything seemed right, but I could always have missed something.
This version includes a number of new features, most notably Widgets integration, and over two hundred bug fixes
Everything so far is looking pretty normal in the back end, so if you are using WordPress I would recommend going ahead and updating. My current WordPress theme and plugin (yeah that’s right just one right now for CAPTCHA) works without modification. So hope you guys enjoy, or at least fail to notice any changes.
Note for Ecto Users:
If you are upgrading to WordPress 2.2 and are an Ecto user then you might wanna keep this little tip in mind. After I upgraded anytime I would edit a post the date would get changed to something in the future causing the post to be unpublished until that time arrived. You can fix this by simply going to the “Weblog” menu and choose “Edit Settings,” in the “Other” tab change the “Adjust post time” to your particular time zone offset.
