Coffee and Brown Sugar

Yep, you read that title right. Today I brewed up some of our favorite coffee (Cameron’s Paradise Blend) and noticed we were completely out of regular (organic) sugar. I looked over at our still almost full (organic) light brown sugar and contemplated on using that for the time being. I asking Polyvector how he felt about using brown sugar in his coffee and instead of giving me some answer he could have pulled from his ass quickly, he took the time to look it up online. Apparently brown sugar in coffee is a semi common thing. So I finished brewing the coffee and gave each of our cups a decent teaspoon full. It tasted pretty normal actually, except it had this pleasant earthy taste. it was a slight taste, but there none the less. We actually think it brought a nice touch to the coffee and will finish off our brown sugar before going to get more regular sugar. I have always wondered what else brown sugar is good for. We have it around from a oatmeal cookie extravaganza we had and I was worried the bag was going to go to waste from our lack of real baking. If you haven’t tried brown sugar in your coffee I highly recommend it.

So Long Mac Mini G4

It’s kind of funny, PolyVector and I have come to own five Macs since we switched from normal PCs. in that time we have only lost one to hardware failure and now we are about to sell a second Mac mini. That’s right. From five Macs we have sold two to friends. MasterStillie bought a first gen mini from us about a year and a half ago and now dankh is buying PolyVector’s original Mac mini.

The mini has recently served as our media and backup server. It’s home was sitting behind our projector screen hooked up via VGA to stream movies and music as well as store nightly backups of our current projects and sites. Before that it was PolyVector’s very first Mac. It has served us well these past two years and now it is off to its new home tomorrow. Dankh has purchased it off us for $235USD which includes the Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” installed, original Install discs which include iLife ‘06, DVI to VGA adapter, DVI to Composite/S-Video adapter, Apple keyboard, and of course the power brick/cord. The price is right since the DVD-ROM/CD burner no longer will read/burn discs. We’re gonna miss this little guy, but we know dankh will put it to good use.

Oh, forgot to mention, dankh was a super cool guy and gave us an extra $5 (making the total paid $240) as a tip. Very cool.
