This is a post in my series “Road to Xcode.” I am currently reading Become An Xcoder by Bert Altenburg, Alex Clarke and Philippe Mougin.
08: A Program With a GUI
I compiled my first example application with a GUI, which consisted of tracking down a self inflicted bug. It is expected for me to typo. I should really work on my typing skills as I go along my Xcoding journey.
This chapter was a bit overwhelming with the introduction of classes, objects, and methods. Being new to programming and Objective C/Cocoa is that these concepts are completely foreign to me. I think Ia m getting a grasp of classes and objects, methods is still a little distant. But thankfully the next chapter covers them a little more.
The further I go the more I want to continue on. I think the progression might be a little slower as I deal with more complicated concepts that relate to real world examples (instead of the simple little box I made above).

If you area fan of Morgan Spurlock’s “Super Size Me” or his TV Series “30 Days” than watching this movie is a no brainer for you. At least, that is what made me curious about this film. I do enjoy Spurlock’s energy regarding a topic and what better use for that energy than to find the most wanted man in the world?
Where in the World is Osama Bin laden? follows Spurlock on his search for Osama Bin laden. The movie takes a light hearted approach to a lone man finding one of the most dangerous and elusive men in the world. At first you might think that is what you are going to pull away from the movie; the search and encounter with people close to or following Bin Laden’s ideas or survivors of his destruction. But it goes beyond the silly jokes and song to actually seeing the rest of the world’s thoughts and feelings not only toward Osama Bin laded, but of the United States government (read that as not people of the US).
The movie isn’t the most serious look at the world and all the suffering and anti or pro this and that. But it does bring you out of whatever cozy spot you have on your couch and makes you think while having a laugh. I recommend having a watch, just don’t take the movie so seriously. It really isn’t meant to be.
