Thanks to PolyVector and his amazing abilities, he whipped me up a new WebClip icon. I think it came out really nice and better fits the iPhone interface than my original one. PolyVector also helped me do a little updated to the theme here on Atomac. So if you find anything out of place be sure to let us know. Thanks for enduring all my recent pictures of the iPhone as well. I had gotten a new digital camera over the holidays and I have been trying to take pictures every chance I get. I think I have been doing rather well.

Is there a way to select your own icon?
I know if you zoom in to a part of a website, thats the icon for the site.
But can you choose or make your own?
I’m not sure I follow you. Yes, you make your own, follow the link to the “original” Atomac WebClip icon and there are instructions on how to make your own icon for your site.
I meant select your own icon for Atomac.net.
Not that there is anything wrong with your icon :)
If you double tap and zoom in to any part of a website and webclip it, the zoomed part becomes the icon.
After just testing with my iPhone, even scrolling or zooming in to any part of Atomac and WebClipping it, the icon PolyVector created works just fine. The WebClip icon does not turn into a screenshot of the site or zoomed in part itself.
And yes you can create your own icon for a site by following the link to the “original” icon article once again and checking out the Clipalizer link at the bottom of the article will allow you to do just that.
Edit: I’m dumb :)
Apparently, you can create a webclip like thing for a Speed Dial number:

While the idea is neat I am one of those people concerned with privacy. And while I know the author of the script has it available to be used on your own server a big concern of mine is you will be broadcasting the phone numbers you are calling over the internet unencrypted. I suppose you could argue that it is the same over a normal phone line but another concern is you need to connect to the internet (whether it be Wifi or EDGE) in order to dial the number, this wouldn’t work well for those times when you have neither, making the speed dial icon useless.
Another solution for this is to just use the “Favorites” in the Phone section and in the “Settings” set the Home button when double clicked to go straight there. Easy enough for me. :)
