It’s funny what things you find when randomly surfing around “the net.” I was recently on MacUpdate looking through various bookmarking apps (mainly for posting or managing delicious bookmarks) and for some reason went to the developer’s site of one and happened to click on the link to their blog. As I was rummaging around I found a little tip on how to clean out your Might Mouse’s scroll ball when it happens to get stuck. I have been taking Apple’s advice and just using a damp cloth and rolling the ball around for a bit, but it takes some serious elbow grease to unlock the little guy. So the best cleaning solution seems to be grabbing a piece of clean printer paper and rolling the scroll ball around on it.
If anyone has tried this technique lemme know, I recently cleaned my scroll ball, but will give this a shot as soon as it happens again (which should be soon). I swear I remember doing something like this during the days of scroll ball mice…you know, before the optical mouse was invented.
Glad this worked out for you. Unfortunately it didn’t end up working for me. :/
It was stuck and nothing worked…. except this method!!! Thanks!
That’s a neat fix, and it doesn’t involve any expensive cleaning supplies.
