I was playing around with Dead Rising last week and decided to try out the “Rapid Fire” glitch. This is where you answer Otis, then hang up on him by switching directly to a gun-type weapon which should make it able to fire very rapidly. From my little experiments I can safely say that this glitch probably happens with every weapon, but due to the nature of the bug it corrects itself the second Frank’s animation changes (which would be instantly with most weapons). Unfortunately the chainsaw and excavator are dropped when you answer Otis, so guns are the only weapons this works with.
The glitch appears to set the skeletal animation to an invalid buffer which usually contains some part of a previous animation… This is commonly walking, running, shooting, and some totally invalid animations that contort Franks arms in hilarious ways. I’ve also seen bits of skateboarding and the “gay” dance Frank does when cross-dressing thrown into the mix.
To make a long story short, Skunkie and WhisperingWillow helped me record these glitches using a couple of digital cameras… I figured I’d have some fun and throw it up on YouTube with some horrible MIDI music. Enjoy!
Some Instructions for the Curious
How to Reproduce the Glitch:
Note: The actual glitch animation that you get is fairly random… It can change every time you do this glitch, especially if you leave the area… so keep trying.
- switch to a weapon right next to a gun in your inventory (I used the Real Mega Blaster).
- decide if you want to stand or run because you have to keep doing either or the glitch will correct itself instantly.
- Start Running/Standing
- Answer a call from Otis and wait 1-2 seconds
- Switch to your gun with A SINGLE weapon change and fire within the first 1 second or so.
Note: This should give you some kind of glitchy animation whenever you fire. This could be walking, running, skateboarding, dancing, or the weird contorted arms thing in the video. You also should be able to fire as fast as you want with any gun. Be careful changing weapons because many will correct the glitch.
If you want the glitch where your arms are contorted and twitching, or you’re holding your current item out in front of you, continue with theses steps:
- Fire your gun and switch items in the middle of the glitch animation

That was sweet dude thanks but somthing happen when i did it it gave me infinate ammo it was weird i shoot the mega blaster and then it didnt stop like never i was running in the mall just killing everyone lol and i pulled out my cam then it didnt let me so lol
I think a lot of people would enjoy it if you could figure out an infinite ammo glitch :)
my friend wardog SNPR said he fell outside the mall and died. but he only got bout 1/2 day ago an is lvl6 lol. so im tryin it cuz im lvl 50 <l:)
I wish we could do more videos, but our Xbox 360 recently took a dive (RRoD). Not sure if we are going to be purchasing a new one after the price cut coming up.
