I am not sure how many people in our audience is a fan of Guitar Hero, especially Rocks the *0’s and the to come in Nov. III since Harmonix is out of the picture, but PolyVector and I are still pretty big fans of this wanna-rocker game. I mean come on, the game is fun. It is a damn shame Harmonix isn’t part of the Guitar Hero magic, but good things are to be had via Rock Band. But I don’t wanna get off topic here. Red Octane is offering special goodies if you pre-order GHIII of their site.
The Elite Bundle pre-order, as RedOctane is calling it, costs $10 more than the regular price of Guitar Hero III — that is, $109.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and $99.99 for the Wii. Take a look at all the goodies that are available when you pay that extra cash, though:
- “Gig bag” for carrying the guitar and game
- Custom faceplate
- Guitar Hero III t-shirt
- Custom 2″ strap
- Guitar Hero keychain
- Guitar Hero sticker pack
Some nice stuff and some “whatever” stuff, but RedOctane claims this is a total value of $70. Lying, even in the name of rock, is not cool.
If you’re not interested in these specific extras, don’t panic. The “Extreme Bundle” costs the regular price of the game/guitar combo but still features a couple of awesome bonuses, including the gig bag, customized strap, and keychain. To sweeten the deal even more, RedOctane is offering free shipping on Guitar Hero III pre-orders of either variety by simply entering the coupon code “freeground” when you make your order.
We’ll end up just getting the “Extreme Bundle” since we never end up even using the stickers that come with the game. I think our biggest problem is deciding which console we are gonna grab this baby for. it is between the Wii and the Xbox 360. There are disadvantages to both, but I will save that for another article.

Sounds like the “Extreme Bundle” is a good fit for you. Love to see you guys rockin’ out with Guitar Hero! When I tried it though, I realized just how much coordination it takes!
Mmmmmmm…more Guitar Hero. I can’t wait. I wonder how many songs I will know on III and if it is going to kick my ass even worse than Rock the 80’s has. I’m going to assume so, that way if it is actually easier, I will feel better about myself, hah! I don’t what console you guys get it for, as long as it is got…yeah, can’t believe I just wrote that. I blame it on my broken brain and work, of course.
