Moka Kadir Blend

Espresso Shot Pulled from Sweet Maria's Moka Kadir Blend
So close to the end of our blend experiment. We have one more after I tell you all about Sweet Maria’s Moka Kadir Blend. I also figured it was about time I showed an updated pull from the La Pavoni. One of the best things about this coffee journal is I get to look back and see my improvements, as well as where I am lacking. Change is always the key.
Now, back to the Moka Kadir blend. The green coffee smelled heavily like semi sweet chocolate chips. Reminded me of when I would help my Mom bake cookies. I was really happy to see this carry over to the cup. This blend had a really nice roasting progression, a seamless pass from first to second crack. At a Vienna the dark dried fruit flavors seem to dominate the semi sweet chocolate notes, but the balance truly came through at a Full City+. If you let it go to a Light Vienna the chocolate notes have a sort of burnt quality that I really enjoyed.
I fully intend on doing a small write up on how I feel blends compare to single origin, which also reminded me that I should do a full write up on dark versus light roasting. You’ll have to forgive my slack. Friends have also reminded me of a few touches the blog needs (like an updated About and bringing back the photos page). I will eventually get to everything. Coffee is always the priority (among my other projects).
I’m starting to have coffee withdrawals it’s been so long since I’ve had coffee. :( It looks tasty. Can’t wait for the write ups on SO/Blend and light/dark roasting. :) That shot looks tasty!
