Puro Scuro Blend

Sweet Maria's Puro Scuro Blend, Light French Roast
Sweet Maria’s Puro Scuro is absolutely meant for dark roasts. I tried to play it a bit safe with this blend and start with a Full City+. I was not enjoying the flavors I pulled at this level. Kind of like drinking earthy V8 with coffee. Not terrible, but not exactly enjoyable. So, I decided to be a bit bold and head into the roasting realm I rarely like, French.
The smokey flavors that accompany a French Roast really benefit in this blend. The earthy tobacco tones paired with a dark sweetness made a very nice iced americano. This blend isn’t something I enjoyed straight, or even in milk. Keep it to americanos. I would imagine this being really nice for a French Press or drip/pour over. As espresso it required to be a little finer, or at least up dosed. I honestly don’t weight my dose, I let the machine and beans tell me where it wants to be. Perhaps this isn’t very helpful for giving people instructions on my methods, but coffee brewing is the one thing I feel I’m better at being more in touch with what my gear wants, rather than constant accurate measurements. Perhaps I’ll talk about coffee brewing as an art rather than strictly a science in another post.
