This was something I seem to have completely overlooked when I got my new iMac which came with one of these new spiffy aluminum keyboards. I am sure we all have done the fun maneuver of hitting the caps key while typing creating a mishmash of lowercase and all caps. Well, I thought my typing skills have just been getting better since this hasn’t happened to me lately, but I am so wrong. Turns out Apple has put a nice little anti-accidental caps protection in place for us. I actually gave this a try and tapping Caps Lock does not trigger it. So check belong for a nice video and what not.
Easter Eggs. Geeks love ‘em: undocumented features, usually fun, seldom useful. Apple has one in its new, thin keyboard: Anti Capslock.John, from Rentzsch.com, discovered the typing-friendly feature after a few weeks using the keyboard. Like many of us, he kept accidentally hitting the near useless key. But nothing happened:
Over the next few weeks, this kept happening to the point where I started questioning reality. I was positive I hit it. This required scientifical investigation.
His conclusions: A quick tap won’t engage the key. You’ll need to give it a good, long press. And once it’s on, the merest touch will cause deactivation. Has Apple signed up with the antiCAPSLOCK campaign?
