If I wasn’t such a dark roast fan I think this blend from Sweet Maria’s could have shined stronger, but the caramel and malt aroma of this coffee really brought in the beginning of Fall nicely.
It’s very hard for me to accept there are coffees out there that I don’t like. The Sumatra Takengon was one I though perhaps I kept trying it on days I was having a palette issue, or was just not in the mood for coffee, but after trial number three, I’ve given up.
It’s always hard to come back from an amazing coffee. Most of the time I feel slightly disappointed by the following coffee, which really makes those few you hit that bring back your passion to full throttle all the more amazing. I’m really glad the Brazil Yellow Bourbon followed the Costa Rica Bourbon.
It’s amazing how many coffees I have yet to try from different countries. I never would have dreamed how much variety there was in home roasting. The Costa Rica Finca La Ponderosa is easily one of my favorites. Even with the heat, this makes one fantastic caffĂ© americano.
What a great way to come back from the Robusta experiment. The Sweet Blue gives an amazingly clean and dry espresso shot as well as a pleasant bitter americano.
There are two main species of coffee that we drink: Arabica, and Robusta. Arabica being the most common and tastier species. All of the coffees I’ve talked about have been Arabica (except for a blend or two that might have contained Robusta beans), until now.
As I dive through more blends I am starting to realize that I might not enjoy complex coffee as much as I thought. I am finding I really miss the nice clean flavors single origin espresso offers. While there are blends I like, the majority of the time I am still feeling like my cup [...]
