Skunkie,

It's an urban legend that started out with eggs and now migrated to popcorn.

So tonight, while Polyvector and I were at his parents house, we gathered up everyone's cell phones and gave this a go. We couldn't get it to work. MegaNice9 looked around at comments on the videos of people popping corn with cell phones and numerous people said it was fake. I just know we couldn't get it to work. :(

That's funny. And yes, disturbing I suppose. I would like to try it myself... And I agree Skunkie, we're all mutants or will produce mutants or will become mutants... I've come to terms with it already. :)

WHA?

Ok, I knew there was a reason why I don't use my cell phone, but that is ridiculous. On the one hand, the radio transmitions from a cell phone or even a simple remote, are so powerful, that, for example, a plant next to my granny's TV started to dying off, but I did not expect 4 phones to set off popcorn!
Wow!
I hope we all survive this!

I would assume that the cell is constantly emitting something while on in order to pickup calls and what have you.

We're all mutants, there is no way around it.

Apparently, you are exposed to microwaves even before answering the phone, by just carrying it on your belt, or elsewhere on your person.
